My Hero & the Hero's Journey
DETAILS:
*Legacy: something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past; a gift of value left after one dies.
EXAMPLES:
- Complete research on your selected hero.
- Write a typed Summary Research Doc with 3 sources: MLA format, 1 paragraph summary, 1 quote, 2 facts (see sample).

- Create a Google Slide or PowerPoint presentation of 5-8 slides (not including title slide).
- During the Final Exam block, you will make a 4 minute presentation with background information on the person.
- This is NOT a biography project, though a brief bio about the person's life is essential. You should make clear the individual's impact and how the individual contributed to make the world a better or more interesting place.
- Remember to incorporate photos or graphics which help the audience get a better sense of the person's importance or influence. Keep slides clean (not messy with unnecessary info) with a simple background/theme and a clear font.
- Introduce the hero (1 slide)
- Make the case that this individual is a hero: create 3 criteria this individual meets in order to qualify as a hero (2-3 slides)
- Identify 3 aspects from the Hero's Journey Chart that correspond with your hero's story and explain how those aspects connect with the hero's life (1-3 slides)
- What is your hero's *legacy? (1 slide)

Beijing's extreme pollution and the 'red alert' are connected to China's addiction to coal burning.. Coal burning is the biggest single source of air pollution in China, and the burning of coal has for the first time in this century declined in 2014 compared to 2013. The article goes on to say that Greenpeace and other organizations are closely monitoring the air quality in China, and there are some small positive indicators for the future.
